From Oregon To San Mateo
"Time flys when you're having fun" John Barkle proudly says as he inspects another Noble Fir on his stunning Oregon tree farm. John has been selling Christmas trees in the San Mateo, California area since 1957. When asked if he ever tires of selling Christmas trees, John says "no" with a smile. "Every year, I look forward to seeing friends and thier faces light up when they find the perfect tree."

John and Lynne Barkle own Deejohn's Christmas Trees, Inc. Their tree farm is a panoramic paradise nestled in the shadows of Mt. Hood, just outside of historic Oregon City. In 2005 they purchased Steve's Christmas Trees from Steve and Laura Abel and now operate four Christmas tree lots under the names of Steve's or Deejohn's Christmas Trees. In the winter John and Lynne migrate South to San Mateo to offer thier hand-selected trees to the community.

 

Making Their Dreams Come True
"Sometimes, you just need to follow your heart." Lynne says about Deejohn's Christmas Trees. Lynne retired from the Xerox Corporation as an Account Manager in 2002 and now works with John on the farm. John, a retired Fire Chief from Springfield, Oregon purchased their Christmas tree farm in Oregon City in 1989.

Both have college degrees along with 5 children and 6 grandchildren. They raise the majority of trees sold and each tree is personally handpicked by John.
 

About The Beautiful San Mateo Area
San Mateo is located 20 miles south of San Francisco, CA and about 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The weather is normally mild with daytime temperatures in the low 70s, with 3-4 days of mild rain during the Christmas season. The area is a low crime residential area and unemployment is very low. There are major shopping centers, restaurants and laundry facilities located nearby. We have been located at our primary sales location in the San Mateo County Event Center since 1978.
